The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary hosts Saint Joseph altar celebration

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) – The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral hosted its annual Saint Joseph Altar celebration at the Sacred Heart Center. The Feast of Saint Joseph is a cherished tradition in the Catholic faith, observed worldwide in honor of Saint Joseph.

Brought to southern Louisiana by Sicilian immigrants, the custom continues today, featuring an altar adorned with photos, relics, and an array of traditional foods. Bishop Kihneman was present to offer his blessing during the event.

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral, opened in 1844, is one of the oldest churches on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
