The Mississippi Department of Public Safety announces the launch of Mississippi Mobile ID

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety announced today it is partnering with Idemia, the world-leading biometric and identity solutions provider, to introduce Mississippi Mobile ID to residents.

Mississippi Mobile ID is a digital version of a physical driver’s license that will allow residents to control their identity from a free app on their smartphone.

It will be a voluntary service and residents can still choose to rely on their physical ID.

The mobile ID will give residents instant access to their license or ID, as well as being used as a legal form of identity verification.

It also gives the ability to provide proof of identity online.

A Mississippi resident’s information is secure as well, only being accessible with their fingerprint or face ID.

MDOT Commissioner Sean Tindell says it is the department’s belief residents will find the service to be convenient and secure.
