The Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo continues at Jones Park
The Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo has returned to Jones Park and Barksdale Pavilion in Gulfport.
Everyone is encouraged to come enjoy carnival rides, local and regional vendors, delicious foods, and the chance to see a variety of fish that live in our Gulf Coast waters.
The rodeo is happening through the weekend and the fun will finish on Sunday night with a firework show at dark. Prize Chairman/Director of Security Greg Federico said, “We had a great number of fish brought in yesterday for our first day. We had a twelve-year-old young man who’s got a pending state record on red snapper. He has, I believe it’s a nineteen pound, I think it’s seven-ounce red snapper he brought in, that’s a pending record. The crowd we got yesterday was very good for an opening day. This is our first year using this layout, with the mid-way on the south side of the pavilion. The people from last night commented how much they enjoyed it and we really want to thank the Port of Gulfport for allowing us to do it and all the boat owners and all of the operators back there, for letting us use that side.”
Federico also says he wants to thank everyone along with the fishermen who helps to support the fishing rodeo and help keep it going.
