The Land Trust Benefit at the Beau Rivage

Over 250 environmentalists gathered at the Beau Rivage tonight in a benefit for the Land Trust.
The non-profit held a silent auction on rain barrels painted by local artists followed by a live auction for boat trips and a stay at Cat Island.
The Land Trust acquires and upkeeps properties for environmental conservation purposes. Officials tell News 25 there are a variety of things they advocate for, which the money raised tonight could be used for.
Executive Director Judy Steckler said, “The money could be used for restoration. It might be used to plan and prepare education programs that we could take to the schools and educate our youth about the importance of the environment.”
In addition to acquiring land, the Land Trust is also big on educating not only children, but the general public about why it’s important to take care of our environment.
