The Gulf Coast was well represented at the MHSAA State swim meets.
The boys of Pearl River Central are you overall Class 2A State Champions! The Blue Devils also took home the group honors of winning the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relays. Individually, Austin Woods took home gold for the 100 and 200 yard freestyle, and Zak Kennedy also placed first in the 5o yard breaststroke.
From St. Stanislaus, Gibson Williams took home the state championship titles for the 100 yard butterfly and the 100 yard breaststroke. With the Greyhounds, Cody Ano of Ocean Springs won the 100 yard breaststroke.
For our St. Patrick swim programs, Matthew Gordon brought home two gold medals for the Irish winning the 2oo yard IM and the 100 yard breaststroke. A former WXXV Student-Athlete of the week, Annabelle Tarrant, also took home a pair of gold medals in the 200 yard freestyle and 500 yard freestyle. Also a member of the Irish swim team, Natalie Gordan come out on top in the 100 yard freestyle and Alaina Seal won the 100 yard breast stroke.
Lastly, our current WXXV Student-Athlete of the week Naomi Smith from Pascagoula took home two state championship titles of her own in the form of the 100 yard freestyle and the 200 IM.
