The Gulf Coast is in a King Cake frenzy

Quality Bakery in Gulfport has been fulfilling King Cake orders left and right as people are ready to start indulging, and customers from all over are flocking to get one.

Customers started calling in their orders at 5 am, and the bakery sold over 70 cakes by 1 pm.

Tradition is, you shouldn’t eat any King Cake before January 6th this date marks the 12th night and is considered the official start of the carnival season. Eating it before means bad luck and a rainy or even worse snowy Mardi Gras day.

If you’re lucky enough to get the baby in your slice, you get extra good luck this year and have to provide the King Cake next time your family and friends get together.
