The Gulf Coast is home to three MHSAA Soccer State Champions: St. Patrick Girls, Bay High Boys, and Long Beach Boys
We had five coast soccer programs compete in the MHSAA Soccer State Championships, and three of them not only came out victorious, but also defended their previous earned titles.
Starting things off on Friday, the St. The Patrick girls soccer team took on Tupelo Christian Prep for the class one State Championship at Madison central. The Lady Irish didn’t even need regulation to clinch back to back State Championships as they mercy ruled the Eagles 7-0. Former WXXV Student Athlete of the Week and Lady Irish sophomore Anna Katherine Thriffley was named the MVP of the match.
Now over to 4A, the Bay High boys team took on the New Albany Bulldogs for the State Championship. It was a super tight match all game long, but the Tigers are your back to back class 4A State Champions!
Last but certainly not least, Long Beach High School’s boys soccer team made the trip to the State Championship for the fourth year in a row to take on Center Hill. Sophomore Braiden Bonds was named m-v-p for scoring the first two goals for the Bearcats, and senior Easton Van Norden scored in the 79th minute to take the Bearcats to victory with a final score of 3-2. The Long Beach Bearcats are your State Champions for the fourth year in a row! They are the first team to win four consecutive State Championships since 2008.
Congratulations Bearcats, as well as the Tigers and Lady Irish!
