The Future of Gautier

The mayor elect of Gautier, Phil Torjusen, discussed his plans for the future of his city. Along with other new, Jackson County mayors, Torjusen believes teamwork for leadership will take the county in a new direction. They plan on hosting monthly mayor meetings in the county to collaborate. As for his plans for Gautier, he plans to address the issues residents face over clean drinking water and infrastructure before he focuses on developing specific areas in the city.

Torjusen said, “It’s going to be a seamless transition as far as the public is going to be seeing and everything. We’ve already got good communication. I’ve got meeting set up with the city manager next week and we’re going to start the transition right then. I’ve already been in the background by serving on two commissions, the civil service commission and the planning commission, for many years. I’ve just kind have been sitting in the shadows. I’m very in tune with what’s going on in the city. So we’re ready to go. We’re just waiting on the inauguration.”

Mayor elect Torjusen tells News 25, his experience with real estate development will also help rejuvenate many of the unutilized areas in Gautier.
