The Distinguished Gentlemen Society give back to the community

The Distinguished Gentlemen Society at North Gulfport Elementary and Middle School did their part of help out the less fortunate during the holiday season.

The Distinguished Gentlemen Society is a school club that tries to teach young men how to be the best version of themselves through service.

The original goal was to collect 650 cans, but the society — along with help from the school and 8th grader Josiah Evans — surpassed that goal with a total of 24,00 cans for “Feed My Sheep.”

Evans donated a thousand cans himself.

The Feed My Sheep van was loaded from top to bottom with essentials that will be used to help with Thanksgiving and for months to come.

“Its really good to give back to the community especially since its the kids from the community that’s helping out their own community,” said Joshua Patton, a geography teacher and sponsor of the society. “It feels really good this time especially when families are having a hard time.”

“Some people are less fortunate than us and i just wanted to help them, help the community and make sure that they have something to eat,” said Josiah Evans.

A few other teachers and their students are also being celebrated with a pizza party and a chance to pie a teacher for the contributions.
