The City of Long Beach moves forward with inner bulkhead wall project

On February 27th, the City of Long Beach approved the inner bulkhead wall project.

This $5.8 million project will replace the deteriorating break wall damaged by Hurricane Zeta.

The new bulkhead will utilize a 10-inch concrete sheet reinforced with battered 14×14 concrete piles ensuring durability and structural integrity.

In addition to the bulkhead replacement, a new 8 to 10 foot pedestrian walkway is being implemented allowing visitors to safely traverse the harbor’s inner perimeter.

However, due to funding regulations, the city was required to delay the project meaning business owners waited patiently for the project to be approved.

Construction has begun with the first phase of the project focusing on restoring the damaged break wall.
