The Biking Monk

A Catholic monk is touring the nation on his bicycle to collect people’s prayers which he intends to display in Washington, D.C.
Friar Lawrence Chase is biking his way through the United States, making stops at churches. The biking monk rolled through Gulfport. He has been on the coast-to-coast bike ride for six months now. When Chase makes a stop, he asks people to write prayers on cloth.
Chase tells News 25 this will be a peaceful way to challenge hostility, providing humility to thwart arrogance, and creating something beautiful. “It started in July when the congressman got shot while they were practicing for the annual congressional baseball tournament. Three days later in church, they were shot on a Thursday afternoon, and three days later in church, as a passage in Corinthians was being read, I got struck like a bell which is not the first time that has happened and basically providence said get on your bike and go across the country and talk to Americans.”
The Friar asks people to please send their prayer flags to American Faith Unity Tour, courtesy of Pohick Episcopal Church in Lorton, Virginia.
