Thanksgiving Food Giveaway

The South Mississippi community is continuing their giving spirit and helping out low income families with their Thanksgiving needs.

Tonight, the Distinguished Gentleman of Ocean Springs along with the Krewe Unique Mardi Gras organization and the Xi Zeta Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity sponsored a Thanksgiving food drive for Gulf Coast families in need.

They put together all the fixings including the turkey, macaroni and cheese to the cranberry sauce.

Distinguished Gentlemen of Ocean Springs President Howard Newkirk tells News 25 this is the third year they put together this food drive and it feels good helping out families for the holidays. “So we put this event together just to make sure the elderly people in the community and the less fortunate are able to enjoy a decent Thanksgiving meal and just showing support Coast wide. This makes me feel proud and honored just to give back to my community.”

This year, they were able to provide a complete Thanksgiving meal to 108 families.
