Testing waters with developers in Biloxi
A few months ago, the City of Biloxi entered into a lease agreement with a new downtown eatery with Le Café Beignet.
The shop opened in the city-owned former Biloxi Public Library on Lameuse Street. After seeing the success of the restaurant, Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich has decided to test the waters to see if developers would be interested in other prime city-owned downtown properties such as the Magnolia Hotel and an adjoining public parking area, the Creole Cottage, and the large tract of land across the street from Biloxi City Hall. Cecilia Dobbs Walton with City of Biloxi Public Affairs said, “There is a lot of things going on in the downtown area. A lot of projects such as two way Howard Avenue. SMPDD has been to city council meetings to let people know they are working with the city on a couple of ideas for projects and seeing what type of interest we have in the City of Biloxi in general in the downtown area.”
