Teen Shot at House Party in Biloxi
A 16-year-old is recovering after a house party in Biloxi turned violent.
Biloxi police say the teenager was shot in the leg around 12:15 Sunday morning in the Le Bonne Terre neighborhood off Popps Ferry Road. Reports say the gunshots followed after a physical altercation broke out at a house on Carmargue Lane. One of the people involved in the fight got a gun from a car parked on the street and fired multiple rounds.
Residents in the area tell News 25 they would never expect a severe act of violence to happen in their quiet neighborhood. Ben Roberts lives in the neighborhood. He said, “This neighborhood’s usually really quiet. I came from central California, that was very, this kind of thing happened all the time. When I moved here, it’s really quiet usually throughout the whole town. So it was kind of surprising to hear there was a shooting over here.”
Officials say the victim was treated at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A person of interest has been identified and local law enforcement agencies are working to locate him, as well as other witnesses.
