Tate Reeves sworn in as 65th governor
Mississippi has officially sworn in its 65th governor.
Tate Reeves took his oath of office Tuesday morning at the state capitol in Jackson, surrounded by his family and lawmakers.
Reeves has been lieutenant governor for the state over the past eight years. Before that he served as state treasurer.
The new governor beat former Attorney General Jim Hood in the general election in November last year.
Reeves is taking over with several challenges including raising teacher pay and correcting the state’s understaffed prison system.
