Tate Reeves reveals teacher pay raise proposal
Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Tate Reeves visited public school teachers in Gulfport today.
Reeves revealed his seven goal plan to improve the state for working teachers. A few of the highlights included raising teacher starting salaries to regional average in two years, recruit new teachers to areas with a critical shortage, pay Mississippi National Board teachers the highest supplement in the nation, and create a teacher advisory council.
Reeves says the improvements don’t stop just there. “It’s not just K-12 classrooms that need our support. Today I’m also calling for increasing pay for teachers and professors at our community colleges. I want to work on finding creative ways for them to continue to work with our K-12 schools throughout Mississippi to emphasize work force development and skills training.”
Reeves faces off against Democrat Jim Hood on November 5th.
