Taste of Jackson County

It was all about food, fun, and fundraising in Moss Point this evening as hundreds flocked to the Pelican Landing Conference Center for the ninth annual Taste of Jackson County.
Eighteen Coast restaurants like Bayview Gourmet, the Shed, Scranton’s and Azteca’s, just to name a few, filled the conference center for the annual celebration. The event is organized by the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.
A $45 ticket allowed anyone over the age of 21 to sample the best dishes from restaurants all throughout Jackson County. President/CEO of Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Carla Todd Voda said, “All of our events at our chamber of commerce always focus on a certain sector of the community. We needed something to spotlight our restaurants because we have so many in Jackson County. They’re all willing to be a part of this and it sells itself. It sells out every year.”
The event also featured a silent auction that benefits the top ten percent of graduating seniors in Jackson County. Last year, the auction raised enough money to give away $1.6 million worth of scholarships.
