Task force on PTSD and suicide prevention

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)-The Gulfport Fire Department shared that the new state First Responder PTSD and Suicide Prevention Task Force held their inaugural meeting last week.

Gulfport Fire Chief Billy Kelley was appointed to this agency by the State Fire Chief’s Association, all members represent agencies including police, fire, EMS, and many more.

The task force will learn how to better identify PTSD and suicide risk among first responders and recommend strategies to support them and their families.
