Taking a look at Ole Miss’ new head coach

The man with two first names, Matt Luke, is currently the talk of two towns.
The new Ole Miss Rebels head football coach is the number one topic in Oxford as well as Gulfport where Luke learned the fundamentals of the game as a member of the Gulfport Admirals football team.
During his time with the Admirals, Luke earned the title of Sun Herald Player of the Year in 1994 before going on to play for the Rebels.
Today, his old high school coach, Ronnie Cuevas, told News 25 he always knew Luke’s passion for the game would take him to bigger and better things. “Matt had the toughest college football job in America this year, going through what the program is going through, what all the players had to go through and the school itself. He had to pull them together and that’s the reason he’s the right man for the job.”
Cuevas, who happens to be the winningest coach in Admiral football history, likes to joke that he still keeps in touch with Matt today, even though he played for SEC rival Mississippi State.
