In 2013, over 2,000 women and their children sought emergency shelter from one of Mississippi’s 14 domestic violence shelters.
At the request Gov. Phil Bryant, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (M.E.M.A.), Mississippi State Department of Health (M.S.D.H.), and several other key state agencies are working closely together to ensure a coordinated response with the state's public health emergency plans.
