T.J. Dunsford twirls a gem in East Central’s 4-1 Game 1 win over Saltillo

During East Central’s game 3 South State win over West Jones, News 25’s Jeff Haeger got the chance to chat with TJ Dunsford when he was standing at the edge of the dugout.

Gracious as they come, the senior said the only reason he won the inaugural 5A Mr. Baseball Award is because of the teammates he has around him. While that may be true, it certainly goes both ways.

Tonight, Dunsford delivering a complete game two-hitter in East Central’s 4-1 win over Saltillo in game 1 of the 5A State Championship Series at Trustmark Park in Pearl.

The Southern Miss signee also punching eight tickets, holding off the Tigers long enough for the bats to get going in the sixth with Andrew Marble recording an RBI single and Brandt Dickerson recording a two-run double.

The defending champs go for the sweep at 7 p.m. Friday.
