Sweets and Champagne Fundraiser

One in every four deaths in the United States is caused by cancer, which is why 300 people came together tonight to raise their glass in an effort to create more birthdays.
The Gulf Coast American Cancer Society hosted the seventh annual Sweets and Champagne fundraiser at the Island View Casino in Gulfport.
The event honored local breast cancer survivor Kathy Santiago for her strength and dedication in her fight against cancer. “One of the things that helped me get through this healing process of having cancer was to be able to give back and start fundraising and start letting people know the importance of early detection and the awareness of how important it is to raise money for research,” said Santiago.
Along with food and fun, there was a silent auction with all proceeds going to cancer research.
