Swearing in ceremony for officials in Hancock County

Hancock County elected officials were sworn into office today.

Twenty officials were sworn-in for their respective county seats. Seven are newly elected officials.

Sheriff Ricky Adam is one notable being sworn-in for his fourth term.

Newly sworn-in Election Commissioner of District 2 Tad Shaw says he’s grateful for the opportunity to serve his district. “It’s the weight of the responsibility that public officials have. You know our government is important and we’re entrusted by the people to do an important responsibility. That’s what really hit me hard and I’m very grateful to have that opportunity.”

Shaw says his first order of business is in preparation of the presidential primaries taking place in March.
