Suspect wanted in Gulfport stabbing case arrested, charged with murder

Gulfport Police have arrested a man sought in connection with a stabbing case that happened earlier this week.

Police arrested 49-year-old Octavius LL Benton today in Gulfport. He is charged with 1st Degree Murder. He was taken to the Harrison County jail with a bond set at $1 million.

On Monday, police responded to 19th Street just after noon about a stabbing. Harrison County coroner Brian Switzer confirmed the victim is Damien Lindsey – aged 44 – of Gulfport.

Lindsey was stabbed multiple times, having multiple surgeries before he died.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Benton was found and arrested Wednesday without incident.
