Suspect on the Loose Following Police Chase in Jackson County
This afternoon in Jackson County, a high speed chase led to an ongoing search for a suspect.
At 2 p.m. a white male led deputies on a high speed chase near Big Point, leaving the road a few minutes later near Hurley. The suspect allegedly threw drugs out the window of his car throughout the chase. Deputies used stop sticks to take out the front tires of his vehicle.
The suspect then took an old logging road into a wooded area before leaving his vehicle and fleeing on foot. The suspect fled though Ottis Sheffield’s property. Sheffield said, “He went right down beside my field, got to the branch and he got out of the truck and took off running. That’s the way he headed about towards the East Central school over there. Maybe he had a cellphone to call somebody to come pick him up, I don’t know.”
