Suspect killed in officer involved shooting in Pascagoula identified
PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV)- The Jackson County Coroner’s Office has identified the suspect killed in Thursday’s officer-involved shooting at the Jackson County Courthouse.
Coroner Bruce Lynd identified the suspect as 59-year-old David Wyrick of North Carolina. According to the coroner, Wyrick was pronounced dead at the scene.
Federal, state, and local law enforcement are investigating the incident after Wyrick attempted to ignite propane tanks near the courthouse.
According to authorities, Wyrick drove his vehicle through a fence, parking near a large propane tank.
He attempted to ignite propane tanks in the back of his vehicle in an apparent attempt to cause an explosion.
When Jackson County sheriff’s deputies arrived, Wyrick ran, leading to a chase and shootout, leading to his death.
No deputies were hurt in the shootout.
An autopsy will be performed on Wyrick on Tuesday, April 21.
