Suspect injured in officer-involved shooting in North Mississippi
Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Sherman that happened early this morning.
Sherman, a town of about 600, is located northwest of Tupelo and its city limits incorporate Lee, Pontotoc and Union counties.
MBI said the shooting happened about 4:30 am at Beasley Apartments. Multiple agencies responded to a complaints that someone was firing a weapon at the apartments.
When they arrived, officers engaged with the suspect, who has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.
No officers were injured.
Once the investigation is complete, MBI will turn over its findings to the local district attorney’s office. This is the seventh officer-involved shooting this year.
