A man charged in connection with the New Year’s Day triple homicide in State Line, Mississippi has been denied bond.

Greene County Justice Court Judge Kerney Kittrell on Friday afternoon ordered Drexler Johnson to be held without bond as he awaits a preliminary hearing on a charge of accessory after the fact of capital murder.

A preliminary hearing is expected to happen by January 24.

Kittrell told Johnson during an initial appearance in Leakesville that he was denying bond because he believed him to be a danger to society and a threat to the community.

Johnson did request a preliminary hearing in the case and also told the court he was planning to hire his own legal counsel instead of accepting the services of a public defender.

Johnson was arrested early Thursday and charged with accessory after the fact in connection to the killings of store clerk Rhonda Denson, her boyfriend Lester Campbell and store customer Jason Thornton at Clark’s convenience store around 6 a.m. Jan. 1, 2025.
