Suspect in Bay St. Louis fatal hit-and-run arrested

A Perkinston man is in jail, charged in the hit-and-run death of a woman in Bay St. Louis on Saturday night.
18-year-old Bryan Hathcock Jr., was booked into the Hancock County jail at 11:33 p.m. Monday night. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death. His bond is set at $100,000.
Police Chief Toby Schwartz said Hathcock turned himself in after business hours. His parents accompanied him to the police station.
Hathcock is accused of hitting and killing 41-year-old Brandy Thames about 10:35 p.m. Saturday night while she was on foot on Highway 90 near Dunbar Avenue.
Bay St. Louis Police released a security camera photo of the vehicle and the suspect on Monday evening.
“CID (Criminal Investigation Division) did a great job and we had great cooperation and assistance from Stone County Sheriff and Hancock County Sheriff,” Schwartz said. “And of course, tips to law enforcement were paramount to getting a visual description.”
He has an initial appearance set for 10 a.m. Friday.
