Susan Hunt honored as outstanding citizen

She’s passionate about education, Mardi Gras, and the City of Biloxi. Her name is Susan Hunt and she was honored as Biloxi’s Outstanding Citizen by the Biloxi Lion’s Club.
In addition to her many positions throughout the City of Biloxi, Susan Hunt started her career as principal at Gorenflo Elementary in 1978 and later at Michel Elementary. Today she works with Biloxi Excel by Five as their certification manager.
Several of her former students showed up to congratulate her. It was clear that Ms. Hunt touched several lives throughout her years as an educator as evidenced by the turnout and atmosphere at today’s meeting.
Susan Hunt says her life has been greatly impacted by her students as well. “I always wanted to make a difference. I always used to tell my children and my parents ‘your children are my children.’ I want them to be successful. I always was there, anytime they needed anything and I still work with parents and try to help them. It’s all about children and making a difference in their lives because at the end of the day they have touched me.”
Hunt has been recognized many times over the years. The March of Dimes gave her a Spotlight on Success award. The city named her Educator of the Year in 2013. The Coast Chamber’s Young Professionals declared her ‘forever young.’
