Supply Drive for Louisiana Continues
Gulfport firefighters have been working nonstop to collect supplies for the flood victims in Louisiana. The response has been overwhelming.
Hundreds have come to Gulfport City Hall and the fire department is also taking donated supplies at every fire station.
Early this morning, residents and local businesses began contacting the city to assist in aiding with the supply drive. Gollot Moving has donated an 18 wheeler to deliver the goods to Baton Rouge on Wednesday and Alpha Media is on location at city hall, broadcasting live from multiple radio stations to let people know where they can drop off donations.
Chris Vignes with the City of Gulfport said, “It’s been surreal. The community outreach and support has been phenomenal, starting this morning at about 6 a.m. we had a cook from Port City that showed up with a bag of clothes. He said he’d seen the Facebook post and wanted to help out. All of our Gulfport Fire Departments have gone above and beyond. They’ve been unloading cars, loading pallets, getting trucks ready, getting supplies organized and set up. It’s been really awesome.”
You still have time to make a donation. Gulfport Fire Department and Gulfport City Hall will continue to collect supplies through 6 p.m. tomorrow.
