Super Bowl rush begins at the oldest sports store in New Orleans
For the last 27 years, N’awlins Sports has had its doors open in the French quarter, a one stop shop for game day needs.
With Super Bowl 59 around the corner, owner Michael Lester says there is no boom in business quite like the Super Bowl.
“It’s a huge impact. When these teams come into town any business is always good business, and being a sports store and the Super Bowl is here, it’s great for us.”
Since 1997 N’awlins Sports has watched Super Bowl games come and go at the Superdome over the years, but for them the big game is more just a way to make a quick buck, it’s a chance to experience an environment you can’t find anywhere else.
“I’ve been here for three Super Bowls in the past. There is just that sense of excitement going on. People want to be in this town right now, there’s definitely an excitement going on.”
And that excitement Michael is talking about, well it could be seen in every fan who walked through the doors.
“The Super Bowl being here in New Orleans is just a treat, very much so. Right around Mardi Gras, the energy is alive, the colors are out, the people are out, it’s pretty amazing,” said Laurie Firloux, a New Orleans’s native showing her friends around the French Quarter.
