Summer Related Injuries

If you’re outdoors at all this weekend, try to keep cool to avoid possible side effects such as heat exhaustion or extreme sunburn.
Doctors at Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport want you to be prepared, as they see an increase in accidents during the summer. The most common are ATV and boating accidents, cuts from rocks in rivers or the Gulf and dehydration.
Doctors at Garden Park also commonly see victims of snake bites. They urge residents and visitors not to go in bushes or wooded areas where you cannot see your feet.
If you suffer from any of these injuries or summer side effects, do not hesitate to see a doctor. Director of Emergency Medicine Simal Patel said, “You can have instances where you fall and hit your head and you’re completely fine. You go to sleep and in the morning, you wake up confused. Some head injuries, some abdomen injuries, some chest injuries can have delayed progression.”
Whether you are enjoying your time at the summer fair, beach, or playing a sport, always be cautious of potential dangers in the intense heat. Get medical treatment if you suspect you don’t feel good.
