Summer camp in Ocean Springs takes artists around the world

There are so many summer camps to choose from here on the Coast, but today we’re spotlighting a camp that’s all about teaching kids crafts and culture.

Ethotera in Ocean Springs has organized an ‘Art around the World’ summer camp series. The camp is designed for youngsters aged 9 through 12 and each session runs for a week.

Every week they explore a different continent and this week it is all about Africa.

During the session, the students will get hands-on experience with creating silhouette paintings, working with Kente cloth, and making tribal masks.

Kason Jay is a returning summer camp student who is super excited to get crafty. “After I complete a session, I feel relaxed and I’m able to know almost everything about the continent that I did not know.”

There are still two summer sessions available for those interested. If you want more information head over to Ethotera’s website or swing by their studio on Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs.
