Success Women’s Conference

Business women, and some men, from across the Coast joined together today with one thing on their mind: success.
Today the Success Women’s Conference drew in hundreds of women from all walks of life to its inaugural event. The founders of the conference say they want to inspire, enrich and mentor women. The women packing the Biloxi Civic Center were in for a full day. Guest speakers Simone Bruni, founder of Diva Demolition in New Orleans, and Marlo Scott, owner of New York City’s Sweet Revenge, posed for photos as 40 local women of achievement were recognized at its luncheon.
Co-founder of Success Women’s Conference Dorothy Wilson said, “We want them to believe that they can be better, do better. And whatever they have thought about or dreamed about being able to do, whether it’s in their corporate job or whether they want to start a business, whatever that is, we want to inspire them to be able to do that.”
Co-founder Kearn Cherry said, “I would like for them to feel like there is no door you can’t get into. Whether you have to go around it or come from back or the side, when you leave here I want you to feel like you have those contacts and that knowledge to do that.”
Aside from dozens of workshops, there were 50 expo booths to check out. As the awards luncheon wrapped up, Dr. Cyndi Huff Gaudet, chair and professor of USM Gulf Park’s Human Capital Development, was named Karen Sock Woman of the Year, the top honor renamed this year in recognition of successful business woman Karen Sock.
