Study shows economic impact of gambling on the state
A new study out from the American Gaming Association says gambling has a $4.41 billion economic impact on the state.
The study, conducted by Oxford Economics, shows that gambling has a $328 billion impact nationally from more than 1,000 casinos.
In Mississippi, more than 37,000 jobs are supported by the industry, which shows 26 casinos in 13 cities or communities.
The state uses revenue generated from tribal casinos for advertising and promotion of tourism.
Revenue from commercial casinos goes into the state’s general fund with a monthly allocation for the state highway construction fund.
