Students Seek Safety at Harrison Central High School
Harrison Central High School students and faculty received quite the scare this afternoon as a tropical funnel passed over the building.
That’s when a tornado drill went into effect and students took shelter. Principal Avery Bush tells News 25 their school resource officer was keeping an eye on the storm and advised the 1600 plus students and nearly 200 faculty members to seek shelter in the hallways. The students stayed there for about 30 minutes before heading back to class.
“Well just make sure that the kids were where they need to be, not out in open areas on the campus. Everyone was accounted for. We have several portable buildings on the campus and wanted to make sure that people exited those portable buildings, buildings with high pitched roofs and were inside on interior walls following the procedures that we practice regularly,” said Bush.
