Students Learn about Energy Efficiency
Are you mindful about turning the lights off when you leave a room or how low you keep the thermostat? Well, your kids might start helping to remind you.
Today, a Mississippi Power representative visited Orange Grove Elementary School to talk to them about energy efficiency. Students learned everything from what temperature you should keep the thermostat at during certain months to how often you should change air filters. Kids took home a kit which Mississippi Power representatives are asking them to install, as well as complete an energy home survey.
Energy Efficiency Education Representative Tamara Proctor said, “Gotten a very good response from the kids. They are very interested. They are very active in the presentation part of the program. They’re very concerned about helping protect the environment and doing their part as far as making a contribution to being energy efficient.”
If 75 percent of students complete the survey and turn it in, their grade is eligible for a $250 mini grant from Mississippi Power.
