Students chat with officials at St. Stanislaus’ annual Government Breakfast
This morning at St. Stanislaus, high school students hosted their annual government breakfast with prominent government officials.
The breakfast, held at the college café on the school’s campus, is the third annual meeting with officials.
The event was headlined by Congressman Mike Ezell and other local, state, and national officials and allowed students to share their experiences at the institution.
Students ate breakfast with the officials to discuss issues affecting them and their peers.
William Ashcherl is a senior at the high school and shares his experience and conversations with Congressman Ezell. “I’m going to talk about my time at Stanislaus and how it’s prepared me for the future and what it’s doing to prepare other students for the future. I just asked him about what’s going on in Washington. He was telling me about how he was on the transportation committee, how he’s on national security. And so national security is also close to my home. So that’s what my major is going to be at Texas A & M.”
Congressman Ezell said, “It’s very exciting. I know it’s exciting for them and it’s more for me, just to get to see how they’re feeling and doing, and anything that I can do to encourage them. That’s what I’m going to do.”
Ashcherl says he plans to enlist in the military while studying national security.
Local mayors who attended the breakfast were Bay St. Louis Mayor Mike Favre, Pass Christian Mayor Jimmy Rafferty, and Waveland Mayor Jay Trapani.
