Students Celebrate Earth Day
Local students used resources right here in south Mississippi to celebrate earth day a bit early. 8th graders at magnolia middle school spent the entire morning at several activity stations at the Pascagoula River Audubon Center. Volunteers with chevron talked to the students about water quality, hurricanes, why the seasons change, and more. This is an opportunity for students to get out of the classroom and learn about science and the environment in their own backyard.
“It will be a really fun time with them with the interactive exhibits and at the same time hopefully they’ll be learning something and not really realize it.”
– Amy Brandenstein Community Affairs, Chevron
“It’s real fun. Getting to learn about why we have seasons and nature..”
– Willie Green Student, Magnolia Middle School
These lessons will come in handy very soon when these 8th graders take their state tests after spring break.
