Students at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic School reenact Stations of the Cross
The sixth-grade students at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic School in Long Beach spent Holy Thursday reenacting the 14 Stations of the Cross.
The reenactment is a tradition the school has been hosting for more than 20 years and the students, parents, and staff look forward to it each year.
Every advent and event Lent, the students participate in a week-long retreat. During Lent, they reflect on what Easter really means, what Holy Thursday is as well as Good Friday.
The students start practicing right after Mardi Gras to prepare for this emotional reenactment. Sixth grader Estelle Sevener said, “I think it’s really important to be in this play because it’s all about celebrating Christ rising and Easter and its all about the gospel Matthew and we have been learning about a lot about this in religion and stuff like that and it’s really important to do this, I think because I get to share Christ’s story.”
The 14 Stations of the Cross leading up to the Resurrection represent Jesus’ last day on Earth.
