Students at Bel Aire Elementary School view the Solar Eclipse
Unfortunately, the rain put a damper on the solar eclipse, but the students were still able to learn a lot about this unique experience so they could be prepared for the next one.
Students at Bel Aire Elementary School spent the day learning about solar eclipses before marching outside with their glasses to view the eclipse.
“Children are very inquisitive, they want to learn about different things,” said Principal Ann Hardy. “This was a real-world experience, and they like to do that. They like to come outdoors. They like to learn everything that they can learn, and we were just glad to provide the opportunity for them.”
With any real-world experience, there are also no guarantees – like actually seeing the eclipse.
“I thought that we were going to see it, but we couldn’t because of the clouds,” said young Camori Bridges.
These children still had an optimistic outlook, excited to see it again one day.
“Maybe I’ll be in the path where it’s going to be visible again,” said Amaya Jenkins. “I feel like that’s going to be cool, once I’ve waited like 20 years. Even though we didn’t get to see it, we were still a part of it.”
Hopefully, these students have better luck in 20 years.
