Stormy Weather in Harrison County
The storms that pushed through South Mississippi this morning started slowly with flashes of lightning and a light rain, but Mississippi Power and the Harrison County EMA knew more was on the way and had already prepared a game plan.
"When you have situations like this, everyone communicates together to hope for the best, but also to prepare for the worst, because you never know what Mother Nature might throw at you."
As they prepared for the worst, Mother Nature took her best shot.
"The high wind warning and with the saturated ground and our trees very heavy from the rainfall of the last few days that’s created some issues with power outages and traffic lights"
Mississippi Power’s online outage map shows the coast lucked out as outages were minimal.
"With the spring season we can see these thunderstorms build up, it’s just that in the last couple weeks they’ve been more severe thunderstorms."
Something we will see plenty of during spring in South Mississippi.
