Stores run out of space heaters in Gulfport
As the stretch of cold weather continues, stores are running out of supplies to keep Coast residents warm.
Lowes, Home Depot, and a Walmart in Gulfport were cleaned out of space heaters today. The stores News 25 went to that had run out of inventory were locations off Highway 49. Some of the stores offered customers other items like firewood or heating pads.
A Gulfport couple at Walmart stocking up on groceries say they are doing all that they can to prepare for the frigid conditions. Gulfport resident Wendy Blum said, “Covering up our water spouts, our plants, our animals stay inside. It’s been cold, but I mean it is winter weather. I like winter weather.”
“The South gets up and down weather. I mean, you can get heat and everything when you’re wearing shorts, three to four weeks later and everything is cold weather. You just got to be prepared for it.”
Store managers tell News 25 they just weren’t prepared for the stretch of cold weather to last this long on the Coast.
