Stone County Sheriff Todd Stewart is recovering from a mini-stroke he suffered on Tuesday.
Stewart said he has been overwhelmed by the outreach and messages of support since word got out.
“Due to the fast response of deputies and medical staff at MHG, they were able to give me medical treatment quickly to avoid any serious or long term permanent injury.\,” Stewart said in his social media post on the Stone County Sheriff’s page.
“I’m doing extremely well and will be back to serve Stone County ASAP. Due to the fast response and your prayers, all medical tests are coming back with good results and I will be heading home today.
“Again, thank you for your prayers. God Bless, Todd.”
According to the Mayo Clinic’s website, A transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a short period of symptoms similar to those of a stroke. It’s caused by a brief blockage of blood flow to the brain. A TIA usually lasts only a few minutes and doesn’t cause long-term damage.

However, a TIA may be a warning of a future stroke and a chance to prevent it.
