Stone County investigating Wednesday night fatal shooting

A Stone County man was shot in the head Wednesday night and the Sheriff’s Department has a person of interest in custody.

Sheriff Todd Stewart said 21-year-old Tyrese Moye was found at a residents on East Avery Road when deputies responded to a call about a shooting about 8:30 p.m.

Moye apparently was shot in the head and was dead when deputies responded, Stewart said.

During the investigation, a person of interest was identified and taken into custody for questioning. The person of interest also was charged on a separate gun charge.

Stewart said the suspect’s name is not being released at this time.
