Stone County investigating shooting at home
Stone County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday.
Stone County Sheriff Todd Stewart said 43-year-old Richard Atkinson was charged with aggravated assault. He was taken to Stone County jail. Bond was not set.
Deputies were sent to a home in response to a call about a shooting. There, they found a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital.
Atkinson, who fled the scene, was identified as the suspect and he was taken into custody about two hours after the initial report.
Stewart said the case is under investigation and more arrests and charges could happen.
