Stone County Hospital Receives New Ambulance
Employees stood outside of Stone County Hospital this morning looking like kids on Christmas morning.
Their brand new state-of-the-art ambulance rolled up after traveling two days to make it to South Mississippi. Paramedic Supervisor Marilynn Mallett tells News 25 this is the first ambulance in the area that has Medical Air, meaning they can transport their vents without using their oxygen. It will be hooked up directly to Medical Air. This will make responses to medical care smoother and faster.
Many of the hospital employees were speechless, gazing upon their new toy. “This has been at least six months in the works. To have it here today, just cannot imagine what it means to us. We appreciate what the hospital has done to make it a done deal,” said Mallett.
According to hospital COO David Burkart there are now a total of four ambulances serving the Stone County area. He adds this new ambulance will most likely run the 24 hour shift.
