Stone Co. Residents Shocked After Shop Owner Killed

A local Stone County business owner was fatally shot over the weekend. Stone County Sheriff’s deputies are still investigating the shooting death of Timmy Garrison.

The Sheriff’s Department responded to a phone call about a shooting around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 24th. Once there, they found Garrison shot to death inside of his business, Beatrice Sawmill and Construction in Perkinston on Cable Bridge Road. Garrison died from a gunshot wound to the head. News 25 spoke with some Stone County residents about the tragic incident.

Karen Holliman, a resident, says, "From what I’ve heard, he was a pretty decent guy. It’s kind of a shock when stuff like that happens here, but I guess it seems like lately a lot of things have been going on in Stone County and it can be a little bit scary."

Whitney Cameron, another resident, says, "It’s a concern in any small community, especially one like Wiggins. It’s a very family centered community, so yes, anything like that is a concern."
