Staying safe during wet weather conditions
As we are keeping an eye out for flash flooding and thunderstorms in our area it is important to remember to put your safety first during these conditions.
Harrison County Emergency Management Director Rupert Lacy says he and his team have been watching the weather since Wednesday evening and this morning a coastal flood advisory was issued.
A flash flood watch was also issued on Wednesday and will last until tomorrow.
While these conditions are an annoyance for many, it can be extremely dangerous. “So far this system has produced heavier rainfall amounts just as we were told which is one of those important things we just want to make sure people don’t get into water and turn around, don’t drown. If we put out barricades, roads are closed. Don’t drive through the water,” said Lacy.
The Harrison County Emergency Management team also says to use common sense when driving and avoid areas that are known for flooding.
